About Dr. Rachel Love, Ph.D., Licensed Psychologist
I moved to State College in 2004 from New Orleans, where I was born and raised. I completed my graduate degree in Applied Developmental Psychology at the University of New Orleans. During graduate school, I was fortunate to join a Tulane University team working with young children in foster care, along with their parents and guardians. That experience deeply shaped my understanding of the importance of relationships, the impact of trauma on children and caregivers, and the value of surrounding families with the supports and resources they need to thrive. This philosophy continues to be the foundation of my practice today.
Since moving to State College, I have worked in a variety of roles, including Family-Based Services and as an Early Intervention Developmental Teacher and assessor. Once I became licensed, I transitioned into private practice, where I have found my professional home. Private practice allows me to spend more time with families and collaborate with other important members of a child’s support team, including schools, pediatricians, and psychiatrists.
In recent years, my work has expanded to include teens and young adults. I find this stage of life inspiring, as young people explore who they are and begin shaping their futures. It can also be a time of pressure and uncertainty, and I enjoy helping clients build emotional awareness, coping tools, communication strategies, and problem-solving skills.
I love being a psychologist and getting to know children, teens, and their families. It is a privilege to be trusted to walk alongside them as they navigate the challenges and growth that come with each new stage of life.
